2 Months Old

Dear Emmelyn,

Last week you turned 2 months old. We can hardly believe that you are already 2 months old, but also that you haven't been with us forever. You've definitely captured the hearts of everyone around you.

You are a very happy and easy baby. For that we are very grateful! You just recently started to smile and we hear you laugh often in your sleep, occasionally waking yourself up while doing so. It won't be long before you are giggling and squealing with delight all of the time.

You started sleeping through the night this past week. Last night you slept for 9.5 hours straight. We are praying this is not a fluke! Although, we can't complain, you've always slept well and we've experienced very few sleepless nights. You've even learned to put yourself to sleep at night. We are amazed that you can do this at such a young age.

Our favorite part of the day with you is when you first wake up in the morning. You spend a minimum of 20 minutes each morning stretching and waking up. We've never seen anything so cute, precious, and silly all at the same time. We have a feeling that you are going to be someone who appreciates some good sleep just like your mommy.

Your favorite part of the day is when Daddy gets home from work. Each night Daddy plays with you on your activity gym and does tummy time with you. Even though you hate tummy time, you love to spend time with your Daddy.

You hate bath time. Just recently you've started giving us about 3 minutes to bath you before you start screaming. Your definitely making us more efficient!

You recently started working very hard on finding your thumb. We know that it won't be long before you are sucking on that thing all of the time and we will need to start saving for orthodontist bills. You've never liked the pacifier though, so we'll let you suck your thumb as long as it makes you happy.

Your first "words" are "gah" and something that sounds suspiciously like "Hi." We love your cute little voice and know you will babbling away before long.

At only 2 months old you have more hair than most 6 month olds. It is a beautiful soft brown and you have a tiny cowlick on your front hairline. We bet you will hate that cowlick at the age of 13. Your hair on the top of your head is over 2 inches long and looks like a little Donald Trump comb over. All of your hair is constantly sticking up and looking crazy. Mommy loves this look on you!

You started your first day of day care yesterday. You will be going for 1 day each week. We know that it was harder on us than it was for you. You had a great day, but came home exhausted. It won't take long before you are adjusted and enjoy going to see your new friends.

At only 2 months of age you've been a very busy social butterfly. You've been attending playdates with your friends Mila, Shayna, Nora and Elise since you were 2 weeks old. You've had visits from Grandma and Grandpa S., Grandma and Grandpa D., Aunt Kara, Uncle Paul, Uncle Mike and Aunt Becky. You even took your first road trip to see Great Grandpa and Great Grandma D.. In just a few days you will take your first trip to Washington, DC to visit Aunt Becky and in a few weeks you will take your first trip to Jamestown, NY to see where your daddy grew up.

We know that life with you will only get better and better and we can't wait. We love you more than anything and enjoy each and every day with you!
