Passing it Down

My cousin David and I had a truly close bond through the years when we were growing up. You could hardly separate us when we were children and able to spend time with each other. It was truly one of those relationships that you look back on as an adult and thank God for because it helped you become the person you are today.

Since then we have gone our separate ways, but look forward to seeing each other when we have the opportunity and usually end up picking up right where we left off. David is a truly accomplished man with a wonderful family of two boys and one girl on the way. Among many things he is an author, a war hero, a Congressional Medal of Honor nominee (seriously), a leader in the movement for veteran's rights, and what I'm sure he is most proud of a loving father and husband. David's family has always been wonderful and played a key role in helping me grow up and do what I do today. My parents continue to hammer-home the value of family and how there is nothing more important, which I look forward to passing along to Em. A well learned lesson.

Anyway, Em got the opportunity to meet her new cousins (David's boys) over the Fourth of July and it was a truly special moment for me that I wanted to share. I hope our bond will be transferred through our children and they get to experience it as well....
